Two whore weeks.

Filed under: Academic, Friends, General, Of overweight rythmns — Nicole @ 18:49

Great, so I’m going to try to discuss the past two weeks in one post - two weeks that include a humanities test, a Dir en grey concert and a church retreat. Take a deep breath. And continue…

A couple Tuesday nights ago (before the Medieval test), Dean, Tiara, Jacob and I decided some din-din was in order to help us study. So, Dean drove us to Escape. Then we decided Cici’s sounded good! So we ate and studied at the same time, joking, but generally making progress. Then back to Escape where we continued to quiz each other on Gothic and Romanesque cathedrals, St. Francis, St. Thomas. We were full, and it was getting late…so we went to Tiara’s for about half an hour, and I got home at midnight.

It surprised me how effective that was - a lot of questions we quizzed each other on and discussed were on the Humanities test. As a result, I did relatively well - I was very confident throughout. I thank Dean, Tiara and Jacob for that. Now I will never forget the parts of a cathedral.

Last Sunday, there was the Main Event orchestra event. The turnout was satisfying.

Then the Day of Reckoning was upon us. The Second Coming. Judgment Day. Yes, Dir en grey came to Dallas. That was last Monday.

The day started (sort of) at 4:00 that morning, when I loaded my laundry, then went back to sleep. The morning restarted when Jessica phoned me around 7:00, to tell me that she was on her way - I tell you, that certainly woke me up. So I loaded my clothes into the dryer. I made her sit around and watch some of Little Miss Sunshine before we set out to collect a Christie and a Benita.

We weren’t even out on Coit before she fell asleep.

My pa went to get coffee first, and she woke up. “Nicole, why are we at Blockbuster?” she says. But, anyway, as I said, we were out in search for a Christie and Benita. We found some, too!
My papa dropped us off at the train station, and we sat on the train being loud and Asian. We got off the train at Ceders, walked in circles for about two minutes and found the Palladium Ballroom, where there were already about fifteen to twenty people there.

Notice its spelling. Those pros. But they fixed it, to many peoples’ excitement.

Sarah and Amy, who arrived there much earlier than us, were second in line. So we became one. Anyway, that was about 9:00 or something. Around 11:00 I got bored so I just up and left, hopping on the train and went to Mockingbird. The moment I reached my destination, Christie phoned me about a pizza acquisition, and insisted that I return. I did, but at one of the stops I found the most amusing thing. So I took a picture.

Three Japanese tourists-men were taking pictures of incoming and outgoing trains. I thought it was funny, and yes, I did waste ten minutes just to get that picture. It was a nice way for me to kill time, the pointless train ride.

The rest of the wait, we amused ourselves with strange behavior, naps, testing out architectural techniques with human bodies, shadow puppets and looking bored. I will allow the photographs to speak for themselves.

We giggled when we saw this. We knew that that meant OBSCURE.

At one point, some guy (claimed to be the lead singer of one of the opening acts) pestered us for a bit, and I just happened to be holding my camera and he says to Benita, “Picture! Picture!” so I guess that meant I was supposed to take a picture. I did.

Not long before the opening-of-the-doors (which resulted in wild animalistic behavior), everyone started standing up. I listened to the chatter, and saw that…I couldn’t see them. I turned around, and instantly I felt good. We were second in line, we definitely were. I enjoy being before those poor sods (joking, they’re not all sods). To exemplify my point, this is the picture I took at the time, except I had to seriously fuck with the contrasts and brightness because I didn’t want to use my flash.

Great, now that that’s out of the way, onto the substance. The line has grown from pretty long to relatively ass long. The security guards are telling us to reinforce the line, so that it’s fair when the doors open, and everyone enters the venue. The concept is nice and well - the girls in front of us are nice (for the time being) and everyone is generally happy-go-lucky and excited. Some people were talking about how great it us, because they had gone to the show the night before. The positive energy stirs. There are some interesting characters in line - most of them we end up not liking by the end. But there were two guys just behind us in line whose company we enjoyed. Gregory and Tyler - yes, those are their names. They were doing the shadow puppets. But there was one girl that kept trying to poke Christie - at one point, when Christie was feigning sleep, she borrowed a Sharpie from us (we were unaware of her intentions) and tried to write on her face. Uncool. After a few times, I gave her my “Uh-uh!” look and told her to stop. She did.

Then their was also this other guy with poor grooming that Christie and Benita had seen at AnimeKonvention last summer, and he struck up conversation. At first it was whatever, type of conversation, but then he just…wouldn’t leave. Then he started trying to poke Christie (why does everyone want to poke Christie?), after which I told him to stop. And he did.

I’m the mommy.

So he kind of got quiet after that, because I gave some pretty obvious hints that he was unwelcome (such as, he’d try to crack a joke and I’d give a forced chuckle and look away). After about ten minutes, he looks up and says, “I’ve assimilated into your group!” because that was what he was trying so hard to do. I turned to him. “Oh? No, not really.” He generally leaves us alone after that. We aren’t going to let anyone use us so easily.

Anyways, the security gaurds started fussing, and then a lady holding a big stack of CDs announces that they’re doing a meet and greet for the first one hundred that buy a CD. Of course, in spite of the fact that I’m right-freaking-there, a mass horde of fat goth girls with no business wearing what they’re wearing skittered in front of me waving their twenties, so I couldn’t get one, but that’s okay. Christie, Benita and Sarah got it, though.

{to be continued…in great length}

  1. “Explicit Video Material Being Shown Tonight” says the sign. “Oh my,” says I. A nighttime shot Photoshopped to that? Impressive!
I need to go somewhere. Other than online and school. Body Worlds, perhaps? Preserved bodies are always in style.
